The exhibition “55 Objects” is a group show organized by the Fall 2023 students of “Design Research, Writing, and Critical Methodologies,” an advanced seminar at the Weitzman School of Design. The artworks in the exhibition are a reformatting and reimagining of the semester’s writing exercises into a more visual, public format. Students worked together to make all curatorial decisions from concept to exhibition design. They edited and published these texts, videos, and models, as well as carefully considered their display in the gallery setting. Each students’ “project,”—their long-term intellectual body of work—was constructed using five discreet objects outside of their own work. Each became the subject of a text exercise. By contextualizing these objects and placing them in dialogue with one another, a personal narrative emerges.
