Hi I'm Runxin. I am an architectural designer based in LA.

I have obsessed with mega infrastructures such as skyscrapers and airport terminals since I was a child. As I grow older, I begin to realize that architecture is more than those monumentary fantasies and start to pay attention to relatively smaller-scale designs that focus on human-scaled experience.

My favorite director is RyÅ«suke Hamaguchi, he is also one of those who led me into these shifts. His films have greatly influenced my design. I think his works always have good balance between ordinary and unusual. Inspired by his works, I am also trying to direct my design projects in the same way and discover those latent but cinematic spatial experiences that derived from our ordinary life.

Architecture to me is a bridge that keeps a beautiful balance all the time, it could be a balance between Large scale practice and small scale intervention,  between OOO and interdisciplinary explorations, between Anthropocene stands and Chthulucene narratives. And designer's job is to adjustfy this subtle balance within different context and in this ever-changing world. My design projects and research works reflect my understanding of balance at different stages, and I believe the beliefs about balance will keep guiding me through my future architectural practice.

Listen to the sound of water under the bridge, and it will never stop...
